Gear Review – Fishpond Yampa Guide Lumbar Pack

The Fishpond Yampa Guide Lumbar pack is a great representation of all the qualities that make Fishpond an undisputed leader in the bag/pack/luggage/travel gear of the fly fishing world.  Fishpond, now entering its second decade, has a passion for creating products that stretch the boundaries of traditional product design and set new standards for functionality.  The Fishpond Yampa Guide lumbar Pack is merely one product in an extensive line of bags and packs. Fishpond has an undying passion for conservation and Cooperate responsibility.  The Yampa guide Lumbar pack is made from recycled commercial fishing nets as are a majority of the products fishpond offers. Known as Cyclepond, the use of these discarded materials is an amazing show of stewardship in the industry.  Two main compartments, battened down with water resistant zippers, along with Fishpond’s signature molded drop-down fly bench, accommodates everything you bring to the river, lake or flats. The Vented mesh back panel keeps you cool while carrying a full load of tackle. The lumbar support is very comfortable as well as it supports your lower back.  The 2 main compartments are plenty big enough to carry your streamer box or several smaller fly boxes. I have not found a fly box that will not fit into one of the main pockets unlike other packs I have owned. The Exterior Hypalon tabs and nylon cord loops for gear attachment are great added options for my zingers, forceps and other terminal tackle I want handy. The Fishpond signature molded, zip down fly bench with replaceable foam patch is very convenient although { would not recommend storing large dry flies in it since the hackles can get smashed down.  2 exterior side pockets for water bottles are nice. Overall the Fishpond Yampa guide Lumbar pack is very functional without have an overburdening amount of useless extras hanging off to catch your line.  The pack can be worn as a lumbar waist pack or a sling pack.
