Fly Fishing Guide

My name is Philip Turner and I have been fly fishing seriously for about 12 years now. I am originally from Woodstock, Ga and have been in the Vail Valley over 11 years. This will be my fourth season guiding with Fly Fishing Outfitters, after taking part in the guide and row school FFO puts on annually I felt confident in my abilities and joined the team. Working with an Orvis endorsed shop and being surrounded by a great crew of people is why I love being apart of FFO. One day that sticks out from last season was a float trip with a family of four on the Roaring Fork River. I had the mom and daughter in my boat who had never touched a fly rod before. They proceeded to hook and land two nice trout at the same time not even 5 minutes into the float on big foam dry flies. They continued to hook fish after fish on dries all day long. That is why I love guiding and teaching fly fishing; helping people to succeed in catching fish and sharing my passion for the sport. I grew up fly fishing with my dad in North Georgia but a king salmon trip to Alaska really ignited a passion for fly fishing and a goal to go back to Alaska to catch big trout on a fly gear. I have since been back to Alaska many times and landed a 32” rainbow trout swinging flies in Bristol Bay a few years ago. A guided fishing trip with FFO will not only greatly improve your odds of landing a trout of a lifetime but also will teach you the necessary skills required to be effective in your personal angling pursuits. The best part about sharing my knowledge and experience with others is seeing the look on the faces of my clients when everything comes together and they make that perfect cast or land the fish of their dreams. The Vail Valley is an amazing place to fish because we have so many great rivers to access within a short distance. It is very hard to pick one river that is my favorite, between the Eagle river in our backyard to the Colorado River and the Roaring fork, they all have a time and place and are all very special rivers. Come take a trip with us and find out for yourself what makes the Vail Valley such an awesome place to fool some world class trout.
