Fly Fishing Guide

How long have they worked for Fly Fishing Outfitters?

15 years

What are you most passionate about professionally?

Sharing my love for fly-fishing by teaching others how to love it too. Personally? My family. What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it? Fly-fish all over the world

How did you get started fly fishing. What was your motivation?

I have been fishing my whole life, since I could hold a rod, but my Dad took me fly-fishing for the first time when I was 10 years old. My first experience was the caddis hatch on the Delores River. I wanted to continue the fun my Dad showed me about fly-fishing.

Besides guiding, where is your favorite place to Flyfish?

I like to guide/fish the Eagle River
but I also like going to the Grey Reef in Wyoming.

Why is Vail Valley such a good place to fish?

There is such a great numb er of creeks and rivers in the valley, you will never get bored.

What’s the best part of sharing your knowledge and experience with others?

Seeing the excitement of watching the strike, the moment the fish takes your fly, is so awesome. Watching the joy on people’s faces when they catch another fish, whether it be their first time or they are an experienced angler and have been fishing for 50 years. You never lose the passion of the fight. What is one piece of advice you’d give to a struggling fly fisherman? Find a guide that you mesh with to learn the nuances of this fun sport.
