Fish With the Legends
If you’ve ever wondered why it is so hard to catch a damn trout, you’re not alone. Someone once said Fly-fishing is halfway between brain surgery and rocket science. Although not entirely true, all of us guides have felt the same frustration you have experienced, thrown down our rods in anger, and walked away. Only to come back and give it one last try. And by the luck of the fishing gods, we found our first success.
Like any new sport Fly fishing can be a bit intimidating. One way to steepen the learning curve is to experience the beauty of fly fishing with someone who has the knowledge and patience to teach you. We want you to have a fantastic experience. Our talented guide staff takes you exactly where you are to teach you something new while providing friendship and building confidence. We take a lot of the guesswork out of the many nuances of the sport. For all of us who have been fly fishing for most of our lives, you never stop learning. It’s the continuing evolution within ourselves that makes that passion burn bright every day.
Take the guesswork out of fly fishing when you experience a fishing trip with our legendary guides.

Learn. Grow. Lead.
Ready to take your Fly-fishing game to the next level? We love to take everybody out on the water on guided trips, but at some point you want to be able to be out there by yourself and with confidence of knowing that you can catch a Trout on your own. That’s where our Orvis Fly Fishing schools can come in handy. The goal of our schools is to create a self-sufficient fly fisher.
Since 2011 Fly Fishing Outfitters has been host to the only Orvis One- and Two-Day schools held in Colorado. Our staff brings many years of knowledge and creates a fun experience.

Have you ever considered imparting your knowledge as a Fly-fisher to someone else? How many friend’s have asked you, ”Hey, can you teach me how to Fly-fish”? Or do you want to really step up your game to a whole other level? Maybe you’re looking for a career change that takes you from an office to the outdoors? If you answered yes to any of these questions then, our 5-day guide school might just be the answer.
Since 1994, FFO has been instrumental in launching the careers of many guides in the industry. We wrote the book on what it takes to be a successful professional in a highly competitive environment. We are accepting registrations for 2022 Guide School May 16-20.

Have you recently purchased your own raft or drift boat and wanted to acquire the skills that it takes to safely navigate most types of rivers? Are you a wade guide who is ready to take that step up in your guiding career? Maybe you just don’t want to be “that person” on the river everyone is trying to avoid. Our Row school is the perfect place for you to gain those skills.
Our rowing course will give you the on-water hours to become a Colorado state-certified float guide in this 5-day intensive on the Colorado, Roaring Fork, and Eagle Rivers. Even if you don’t want the certification, this course is still a great way to build the confidence to have a great day on the water. Many people take our row school, never intending to row commercially

What better way for a kid to spend their summer than on the river?
